Who da man?!?!

Via grrlscientist here is my EgoSurf result: 5715.

You can check me: .

Since this uses google I think that explains the high showing of grrlscientist and the low rank of Glenn Reynolds. I have noticed that some blogs are high driven by referrals from other blogs and others by by search engine traffic. My non-Seed weblog has always been driven by a large percentage of search engine traffic, and links come in from diverse sources (online class syllabii for example). More political blogs might be deriving their traffic from a tighter circle of sites and so don't come up as high as they should. Additionally, commentary on political topics doesn't tend to be highly relevant to google searchers in the long run, so an old post on a science blog might be far more interesting than an old post on a political blog.

I've always been fascinated by traffic. (I grew up in LA, so I had plenty of time to indulge my interest.) City streets are a complex system in which seemingly insignificant changes - a broken street light, a stalled car, a poorly designed highway merge - can have dramatic consequences.
It's 10pm on a Sunday night, and I'm driving west on Interstate 10 right through the middle of downtown Houston. Focused on getting to my destination safely, I obey the traffic laws and proceed through the comparatively deserted interstate at the maximum speed allowed by law.
ERV is probably right. No one reads Uncommon Descent.

hrm. i liked my pigeon hypothesis better, even if your explanation makes more sense.

I win: 13074!

Actually, it seems to depend mostly on how unusual your name is. I think the algorithm is this: They search for your name on Google, and see how many of the results point to your web site.

Well, since my original comment has failed to appear after ~24 hours, I will try to reconstruct it:

I get 13175! I think the biggest factor is the uniqueness of your name, which is why "Glenn Reynolds" scores so low. My guess at the algorithm: It does a Google search on your name, and your score depends on how many of the results point to your URL.
