Surely the Disco. Inst.'s Rob Crowther doesn't want to cast ID in the role of a murderer or a pedophile, but the parallel is inescapable in his latest whinge about NOVA's Judgment Day (airing next Tuesday on PBS):
But Nova Scotia will take it in the neck, so to speak. Kyle has made a pretty hard right turn and is going to make landfall in Nova Scotia. This changes the landfall estimate by many hours, because of the complex shape of the New England/Maritime coast.

I think James Burke's "Connections" deserves some mention. A clever way to teach the history of scientific advancement.

I used to watch Nova all the time as a kid. Around the late 80's the show began to decline, IMO. I try to catch it from time to time, but they're usually covering some boring topic, like the Wright brother's first flight, or why the world trade center collapsed. I'm guessing that, by chance, I'm missing the good stuff.

Also, "Cosmos" was great.
