You have been a little cranky lately, Razib. Now that I know you sat through Pineapple Express I can certainly understand why. I was gobsmacked when our local reviewer gave it 4/4 stars. I'm pretty sure I know what he's on...

Tropic Thunder had its moments, for sure. But it wasn't really worth a NYC $12. Still, pretty damn funny. Tom Cruise was terrific.

Best acting performance of his career. Certainly more convincing than his pretense of not being gay.

Meh. Cruise's performance was all in the makeup. Otherwise, it was just another Tom Cruise performance, one that was in his "crazy, explosive" mode he's already done in Born on the Fourth of July and Magnolia. It's Robert Downey's show, first and foremost.

And the makeup should win an Oscar.
