On IE 8

It sucks. I downloaded it and tried it out. I made the sacrifice so you don't have to.

It won't run on my computer AT ALL!!!!! When are they coming out with a Linux version of this anyway!

By the way, I think your sex change operation went very well, don't you?

sir,

"sex" is a western, heteronormative, white male concept. as to my gender, i can assure you that one can not ascertain its nature simply from a "headshot."

If your previous headshot was anything to go by... something's different now.

Thanks for the tip on IE 8, though. Will definitely NOT be downloading it.

I haven't even upgraded my personal machine to IE7 yet. I did it on work machine and it crashed hard.

I have no intention of installing IE8 either. Firefox 3 works well enough even if it and iTunes running at the same time occasionally cause things to freeze up for about 30 seconds.

Had I mentioned how I absolutely abhor Outlook 2007? Or Access 2007 for that matter. Have more than 140 columns in a query and all bets are off.

But I hate Microsoft and its products enough that I'll put up with the flakiness of Firefox.

Thanks for teh warning. I went to a website today and had a message pop up that I needed to upgrade to IE 8 to be able to see everything, or something like that. Until then I didn't even KNOW there was a new version.

I'm not an early adopter in terms of gadgets, preferring to buy when the price comes down and the kinks have been worked out. I won't be bothering with IE8 for a long time now that you have shared this warning.

Let's see. There are now for Windows several browsers from which to choose, and one need never open IE8. The aformentioned FireFox 3 and it's companion SeaMonkey; Safari for Wiindows 3 and Google Chrome (beta.) Whysoever would anyone bother with IE 8? The company I work for uses all browser based applications, and the releases since IE6 have not been compatible with the software. The IT dept has been frustrated for three years in trying to move up to IE 7, but it just won't work out without losing functionality.

And Razib, whatever your appearance, your writing has always been beautiful.

If you are referring to physical characteristics the word 'sex' is indeed the correct term and is not some arcane holdover. If this is, indeed, a science blog, it should not be one that ignores the correct use of language.

There's been a change in the picture?

Doesn't surprise me in the least...IE7 was possibly one of the worst browsers ever (it replaced IE6 in that distinction) so I wouldn't expect any better.

I use IE only for sites that flatly refuse to support Firefox.

In my case, the word "dork" is usually the correct term when referring to my physical characteristics. I've got a half off coupon for the Haircut Hut laying around here somewhere...

Like yet another cheap haircut will solve anyone's problems...

And yes, a quick check at archive.org definitely shows something new with that money shot ...err, head shot thing.

...tom...
.

Ie8 works fine, no problems. If you have problems, get someone new to turn your computer on for you.

Well, when I upgraded from 6 to 7, the main impact was that the browser started locking up from what looks like a memory leak every hour or so. If I go to 8, will this now happen every 20 minutes? Goody!!!

Tell us about Chrome.
