Hitler gets mad at Obama

This is really, really funny:

Well, actually, it's not even a little funny...

... Well, actually, the punchline is the funniest thing I've see yet this year. I can hardly type I'm laughing so hard.

I wouldn't say that I'm the funniest person I know - unless, of course, people laughing at you counts as being 'funny'. I'm one of those people who occasionally has good moments, but really, I'm funniest when I don't intend to be. Like that one time I was making fun of a friend's over-exposed…
I got a phone call a little while ago from one of my comedian buddies, Don Reese. Don is a very funny stand up comic and he's coming to perform here in Michigan for the next couple weeks. Tomorrow night he's going to be about 40 minutes from where I live, so I'm gonna go see him, but he was calling…
Now that 2009 is about to kick into gear, I have to look back at 2008 one last time to acknowledge one failure. As a backdrop to that failure, I note that the antivaccine propaganda site Age of Autism has posted a series of their People of the Year "awards" for 2008, including, antivaccine…
We haven't had a good navel-gazing kerfuffle around here in a while, but not to worry-- Bayblab comes to the rescue with a broadside against the current state of science blogging, as epitomized by ScienceBlogs: If you examine the elephant in the room, ScienceBlogs, the trend is maintained: politics…

I had a very mixed attitude about this Downfall parody. On the one hand it has some pretty funny moments. ("and to point at a map like this.") The punchline was also witty.

But part of the humor of the Downfall meme is the incongruity. The "Hitler" isn't a stand in for a group accused of spewing hate or propaganda. In this case, there seems to be an almost implicit Godwin's Law going on. It seems like there are actual political opponents being compared to Nazis in this even if just implicitly. That's not cool.

Joshua - If you do not lighten up, you will be forced to go to the Comedy Re Education Camp and undergo a re-grooving dude!

Josh: It is helpful to contextualize this. I'm posting two other videos by the same person (tomorrow?) which may do that. Or, you can click through to YouTube and watch them. The Republican Homeland one is highly recommended. You will pee in your pants laughing, and that pee will wash away all concern regarding the Hitler=Opposition link.
