The world's thinnest computer is coming out officially in a couple of weeks, but apparently you can get it now. It's a Mac, it will cost about 1,800 bucks US, and it is said that you can "fit it into an interoffice mailing envelope."

Ahhh…in case you hadn't heard, Apple came out with an new machine yesterday, the MacBook Air. I want.
So I’m contemplating getting a Macbook Pro and thus leaving my current main machine (an XP laptop which I have been very happy with, by the way).
I could carry this in my back pocket of my jeans!

I heard that the DVD player is a bit difficult to use.

I prefer having my 19" screen, DVD player, large hard drive etc.
Then again my laptop serves more as a workstation and hardly moves once I'm enscounced at a new location, not very portable either.

The most groundbreaking thing about the Macbook Air isn't its thinness - it's the available solid-state hard drive. Hard drives are currently the weakest link when it comes to both speed and reliability (after all, they're the last thing in most new computers with moving parts).
