When Peter Sinclair made Anthony Watts the subject of his "Climate Crock of the week" video, Watts response was to attempt to suppress the criticism by making a bogus copyright claim against the video. Naturally this hasn't worked, with Desmogblog reposting the video. Better see it in case Watts…
Some old news here and some new, all of it about my favorite climate contrarian, Lord Cristopher Monkton. He is my favorite because he is a clown and the more he is put forth as denialism's "Septical Champion" the better. First the old news. You may recall Tim Lambert debated Cristopher Monckton…
So I will be in Fiji for a one week stop over on my way home from Tasmania to Vancouver and I do not expect to have much internet access and/or time. I think I will schedule a few "Climate Crock" posts for edumusement but otherwise no one will be minding the store here. (that unfortunately…

Sigh. Michael Coren was an acquaintance of mine a number of years ago. He's a very intelligent man with a number of substantial literary biographies to his name. However he also has a rather towering ego and a dilettante's delight in controversy.

I think there are quite a few denialists out there that, like him, love the attention and the fact-free "intellectual combat". I'm afraid that it's not going to wear well though...

One of the best CCWs ever, IMHO.

Here is CCW auteur Peter Sinclair's accompanying commentary (as seen at Desmogblog and elsewhere)

===========================================

The observation that natural climate variability exists is not a new one.

Early in September 2009, at a gathering of experts on global climate change, one of the world's most respected and experienced climate modelers, Mojib Latif, made some observations on climate, media and human nature.

The message seemed clear- natural variations in the long term warming might be misinterpreted by the media. out of ignorance, or malice.

Climate deniers were quick to take Latif's remarks, and begin doing exactly that.

You can listen to Latif's original remarks, here, by clicking on the recording titled "Advancing climate prediction science".

It takes balls to lie so blatantly in a day and age when it's so easy to look this stuff up. The first thing I did when I heard about this story (via the Gunter article shown in the video) was search to see if I could find out what Latif actually said. I found it within a few seconds and was blown away by just how dishonest Gunter was. Either that or he was relying entirely on someone else who was a big fat liar.

To see this crock in action see the following from the "The Hockey Stick is Broken" post:

"Yet last week in Geneva, at the UN's World Climate Conference -- an annual gathering of the so-called "scientific consensus" on man-made climate change -- Latif conceded the Earth has not warmed for nearly a decade and that we are likely entering "one or even two decades during which temperatures cool.""

Ha ha.

Yeah Chris I finally watched this (I dread Youtube on my sluggish 14th century laptop at home) but I was thinking exactly the same thing--where's Crakar when you need him?

He so perfectly pitched Coby that softball about Latif . . .

Its almost as if the guy was a plant: He was just an AGW believer tossing nonsense so you guys could shred it.
