This is our cast aluminum patio table, which always looks really cool when snow piles up on the lattice-work pattern of the top. Click the image above for a slightly larger picture.
We've gotten more than a foot of very powdery snow thus far, and it's still coming down hard. I taught my class, gave some instructions to my thesis student, and came home, where I plan to spend the afternoon in a warm and cozy house with Kate and Emmy, heading outside only to re-shovel the driveway and maybe throw some toys for the dog. If you're in the snow zone yourself, stay safe and warm.

Fox News reports on James M. Taylor's presentation at Heartland's Conference:
Here in central New Hampshire, we got another 10-12 inches of snow last night. It's been a winter of heavy precipitation, with sleet giving way to wet snow which turns into powder which eventually freezes into rock solid ice.
We've got a table with slats outside in the (same) snow storm. Glad to see that I'm not the only one who can appreciate the patterns the snow and wind make on these things.
Run it through a card reader. (If you can still find one.) I think the aliens are trying to send you a coded message!
We shovelled the driveway today, took two hours, now it's buried again.
I need a mechanical device with an engine. Next year...
