My mom was in Saratoga Springs for a meeting, and stopped by tonight to make a guest appearance in this week's Baby Blogging. Here, SteelyKid shows off how she can haul herself into a standing position on the big tub of outgrown baby clothes sitting in the living room:
"How do we know she did that herself?" you ask, you skeptical baby-doubter, you. "Her grandmother is holding her up!" Well, this picture should remove any doubt:
"Look, Internet people! No adult support needed!"
This, like most developmental milestones, is both exciting and terrifying. She's crawling all over now, and hauling herself up on any object of appropriate size. It's only a matter of time before she's toddling around in a bipedal fashion....

A 15-year-old girl was arrested for child pornography and child sexual abuse for posting pictures of herself online. Would it be statutory rape if she touched herself?
Here's an idea: a young woman takes a picture of herself every day, and assembles it into a movie.
It was predicted that Sara Palin would not be able to pull off laughing at herself. They were right. But that's OK, there were plenty of people tuned in to laugh at her.
The Canadian Cynic points out one of Denyse O'Leary's less endearing habits: her penchant for constant self-
She grows more adorable by the day!!! And this is when the gray hairs will begin to multiply...........what a distinguished professor you'll be (not that you already aren't...)! :O)
Cute.
The next step after standing up is pulling up. And the alternative version, pulling down, where anything that can be pulled down will be pulled down. Things are going to get interesting. A friend set aside a couple of rooms where everything is on the floor. Nothing piled up means nothing that can be pulled down. That worked until the kid started climbing and got over the kiddie fences...
If you're lucky, she'll stay on the floor. Our offspring travelled vertically as well as horizontally. While we never found her on top of the refrigerator,we found her up the back of the couch, on the counters, working her way up the outside of the banister of the staircase, on the dog, in the dog's kennel/cage....
The dog took to hiding in the center of our bed when she was feeling over-loved.
