It's really flattering when your kids start to imitate you:
This is SteelyKid playing with the toy laptop she got for Christmas in her basement kitchen. Sadly, not only is she imitating her father's computer-addict tendencies, she's also copying my poor laptop-using posture. We'll have to work on that.
For the traditional Appa-for-scale photo, here she is a little bit earlier in the evening, showing Appa how the trains work:
Appa, having the power of flight, is disdainful of rail travel.
(I really need to do an Appa FAQ, to go with these posts, but the Avatar fan site link will suffice for now.)

Today is the official release date for the paperback edition of How to Teach Physics to Your Dog, so I wanted to write up something cool about quantum
SteelyKid was in an exceptionally happy mood the other night, and so I not only got the silly face shot from the previous post, but also this more traditional Toddler Blogging picture, with Appa, no less:
Long-time readers will remember that I used to do weekly kid-blogging, posting pictures of SteelyKid with a reference animal, Appa the sky-bison from the Avatar cartoon.
SteelyKid starts second grade next week, and her summer project was to read Julius, the Baby of the World and make a poster with baby pictures of herself.
I wonder how long before the toy laptops come with wifi, an OS, and a browser.
(And while we're at it, I'd like a Fischer-Price cellphone that comes with a two-year contract.)
Has she started muttering about the quality of the graphs she gets from Excel yet?
Could we have a picture of SteelyKid using her kitchen where we can see all the cool features of the kitchen she has to play with? Silly, I know, but I love seeing all the cool gadgets kids get to play with these days.
My girlfriend said she's so adorable :) And better teach her how to use her laptop with proper posture, I've got this carpal tunnel syndrome, which is really bad :( (yes another computer addict!)
