In an earlier post I listed my favorite insect images of the year taken by other photographers.  Now it's my turn.  Here is the best of my own work over the last 12 months.
Oecophylla weaver ants are exceptionally cooperative subjects for photography, allowing for plenty of experimentation with lighting while the ants preen and pose.

I glanced at my news feed and I actually read "New waiver at photos at myrmecos.net". I thought cool, lets see what's this about.

That great photo was not a disappointment though.

I read in "The Smaller Majority" that the related green ants are edible, in that, when you steam them with rice, they impart a delightful citrus flavor.
